Doing Morning Pages and Nanowrimo

Today is finally the day to start writing another novel. Not enthusiastic about it at the moment; more coffee and breakfast hopefully will help re that. And do my Morning Pages, which in some ways is like the nanowrimo.org writing thing, in that it aims to fill in three pages with words but does not care what the words are, and nanowrimo.org is to write 1,700 words a day average but similarly does not care what the words are.

Apparently writing for page count or for word count, without regard to what is written, seems to open up the creative part of the mind; although Morning Pages has a general purpose of "stream of thought at the moment" and nanowrimo.org purpose is to "write a novel." Both kinds of activities provide a sense of satisfaction.
